I really REALLY wish I hadn't said anything now. Dude, I agree with you about how cool Tadpole is, so let's not act like I'm saying otherwise.
I should make one point in Madame X's defense.
That was not a private post she was responding to. IT WAS POSTED ON A PUBLIC MESSBOARD.
When something gets posted in an open place, the author gives his or her tacit, implicit permission for the readers to RESPOND TO IT IN WHATEVER WAY THEY SEE FIT.
That includes not understanding its full implications.
You can hardly fairly be upset with Madame X for not seeing whatever particular private meaning the post had. If it was private meaning, and unintended for her, then WHY SHOULD SHE HAVE TO?
You seem to have really had your feathers ruffled here. You know I never would want to have done such a thing with my comment. But I think you'd want me to not walk on eggshells as you put it: you would want me to say what I believe, right?
That's what I believed. That it sounded kind of condescending to express such surprise that a "young lady" could have written something like that.
And I'm wondering at this point what Tadpole herself has to say about all this. Please don't let it scare you away from here or anything.
