Plug-In vs. Stand Alone

I think you're talking about "plug-in" mode verses "standalone" mode. Most folks use Reaktor as a VST plug-in in a host program, like Cubase SX or Emagic or SONAR or Ableton LIVE4. Reaktor is such an excellent and far reaching FX proggie, I can understand using as a plug-in, (an effects send and return), but that its not what I do at all. Hell no! I use it STANDALONE. Hear that noize? That noize IS the band... and I am the gameshow host from Hell! Welcome to my Reaktor nightmare. That abrasive noise you hear endlessly repeating from the background to the foreground is none other than Reaktor 4.13, the latest upgrade, in preparation for the much anticipated release of Electronic Insruments Vol 2, later this month.
