This also is the origin of the old phrase "Got A Monkey On My Back" since you would want to keep your stash close at hand. Other phrases such as "don't monkey with me" and "your a monkey's uncle" also come to mind. Someone could always get in trouble for "Too much monkey business" or by just "Monkeying around" and if your habit got too big for the monkey to contain you could always "Go Ape" or even "Go ape shit"
