ROBERT ANTON WILSON, SCI-FI AUTHOR, DEAD AT 74 Robert Anton Wilson, co-author of the cult sci-fi series "The Illuminatus! Trilogy" while he was an editor at Playboy, has died at his California home. Wilson was 74. The trilogy which Wilson wrote with Robert Shea when both were working for Play- boy in the 1960s describes a world divided between an authoritarian elite, the Illuminati, and a resistance group, the Discordians. The books, "The Eye in the Pyramid," "The Golden Apple" and "Leviathan" have remained consistently in print since they were published in 1975. Wilson went on to write many non-fiction books, including "Cosmic Trigger," in which he claimed to have communicated with extraterrestrials.
