one week after the death of my friend chris holzhaus

what a strange week it was! anytime someone you know well dies, it has strange effect as your psyche adjusts to the phenomenon left behind by the person who is gone.

in the case of chris, first i had to take a few days to laugh my balls off. i wasn't laughing that he was dead, i was still laughing from when he was alive. he made me laugh so much and gave me so much to laugh about, the tragic side of the loss had to take a backseat. i wasn't the only one, there are a few of us who rode thru the odessey of the last 7 years, shall i call them "the anti-cureton fan club years"? we were just roaring with deep, gut wrenching laughter and moaning from the sheer brain damage of how funny it was.

hey, duke! can you hear me? if you're out there reading this somehow, i just wanna THANK YOU for your contribution to www.popeye-x.com , the whole cureton atrocity was ENTIRELY YOUR FAULT!!! i stand in awe of what a monster it turned into, and i am so grateful for the new friends i made.

mr. holzhaus, you will be remembered as a blues musician, but in addition to that legacy, i will never, ever forget what a hilarious motherfucker you were! you were always so relentless, but when it came to talking shit with turd roasters, you were the best (worst) irritant they ever had, they should be honored to have so much of your scorn showered upon their insignificant little asses.
